Hannover

In Hannover 10 facilities took part and collected over 12,000 Green Footprints.

Their press release says:

It is a far way to Qatar. About 3700 miles (5953 kilometres). But the way to a global environmental awareness is much farther. So it totally fits that the kids from Hannover collected more than 12,000 symbolic Green Footprints. Children from all over Europe take part in this campaign, that is supported by the city of Hannover.

"Do not chop so many trees", Sophie (8) from the elementary school Entenfang claims. The children wrote down their wishes on small posters: "I wish that we do not produce so much cars" or "More open space! More electric cars!"

Here are some examples of the results of the schools in Hanover.

Wallenhorst

The small climate protester of the St.Bernhard-Schule in Rulle participated for the 7th time! 11 classes with 256 pupils collected 3422 Footprings from 11 to 15 June 2012 - a noticable number, because last year they collected 2904 Green Footprints.

No wonder that they proudly handed over their Footprints to the Mayor.

Walsrode

From 11 to 15 Junes, the elementary school collected 2340 Green Footprints, that means that they got to school 2340 times by foot, scooter or bicycle. What a great week! Purpose of the campaign is to make as many ways to school without car as possible.

The school wrote in their report

The activity week means a lot to us because...

  • there are lot of dangerous traffic situations when the parents bring or pick up their children.
  • the activity week is a good opportunity to try whether it is possible to do without the car.
  • excercises are very important for the development of children; walking, climbing, balancing and cycling are good for endurance, coordination and sense of balance and support the mental development, too.
  • children, who go to school alone have a better sense of orientation and experience the nature more consciously
  • even the parents benefit from this campaign when the children become more independent and they save the time for bringing and picking up.
  • we want to participated in this campaign to set a sign for the environment.

On 8th October the elementary school startet their 2nd week "Go to school by foot"! After the great success in early summer, they wanted to convince the first grader and their parents of the healthy school way. Every morning in this week, the children could stick green and red dots to visualize the "green" ways to school. So they collected 2262 Green Footprints.

The organiser of the school wrote to us:

Again it was a very succesful activity that has found its first copycat (elementars school Düshorn)

Ludwig-Rahlfs-Schule Düshorn

In Walsrode, the Ludwig-Rahlfs-Schule Düshorn participated. The children collected 2882 Green Footprints in 14 days.

In the photos you can see how the representatives of the classes bring their Footprint Poster to the movable walls where the collectes Footprints of each class are presented.

The principle wrote to us:

Today we have the closing event with all classes of our school and calculated the total number of collected Green Footprints over the past 14 days... Additionally, we sang the "Green Footprints Song" and a class read a poem. We all enjoyed the campaign!

Wolfsburg

In Wolfsburg there was a great closing event at the city hall. The children handed over their Footprints to Dr. Farny, head of the environmental department. They sang a song about climate protection.

The coordinator of Wolfsburg writes:

It was great! The schools and day care centres received a certificate as well as a coupon for sport equipment. And our result: 911 children collected 11.684 Green Footprints!!
