Allensbach

This year, too, the kinder gartens and primary and secondary schools of Allensbach participated again in the Climate Alliance’s “Kids on the Move” campaign.
Already for the ninth time, the children collected footprints which they received for going ways without cars, eating regional products and saving energy. The target is to walk symbolically the way to the next Climate Change Conference together with other children from around the world.
During the community council’s meeting, the results of children from all participating institutions were handed over to the mayor and the community council.

This year it would have been possible to reach the UN Climate Conference without the help of others as it will take place in Paris.
Together the children of Allensbach collected 3,334 green footprints and were not only on the move to Paris, but surpassed the target easily!
Further 2,242 green footprints were added by the children who have been travelling this school period to school by walking bus. Every day, these children, accompanied by an adult, are walking to school and in doing so are disburdening the environment extraordinarily.

The coordinator wrote to us:

During the meeting of the community council, the children handed over their posters with the footprints to the new mayor and stated their wishes of improvements in the community.
The children of all institutions asked the car drivers not to park their cars on the walk ways and that the garbage cans will be removed rapidly from the walk ways to that the children do not have to drive around these.
By the way, during a sit in a circle I was able to explain the children very well the greenhouse effect with help of the heat wave which we had had during the last weeks.

Bermaringen

The Protestant kindergarten Bermaringen sent us the following report:

Finally it was time: the collecting of green miles was about to start!
On Monday, 20 April 2015 the polar bear mother explained to her little polar bear boy “Lenni” why his ice floe had broken off: The earth is running a fever. But rescue is on the way: There are great children in a very special town! There the children are convincing their parents, grandparents… that they won’t be brought to and collected from the kindergarten by car for the next two weeks. The cars are making our earth sick.

The children of the kindergarten Bermaringen were so motivated that they swore to the little polar bear boy that also in the future (not only for these two weeks), they would go to kindergarten as many times as possible by foot, bike and scooter, skateboard and rollerblades, etc. everything but not by car.

These green footprints will be handed over in November in Paris during the Climate Conference, hoping that “the politicians will also do something”. (Quote: Preschool child, 6 years old).

On 19 May 2015, our “Smart Mice” handed over the green footprints to Mrs Mayer in the town hall.

The crafted footprints were handed over in a treasure box on which the children wrote: “I wish this for the future of our earth.”

We thank the children of the Environment Working Group of the primary school Bermaringen who supported us in collecting green footprints. As well as to the local representative for her spontaneous promise to welcome us!

Herrenberg

The children of Vogt-Heß-Schule (Herrenberg) had much fun during the action week und were busy collecting green footprints in their miles diary. Altogether they collected 203 green footprints.
Their teacher who managed the project wrote:

“Thank you very much for this great project! It is really a nice idea that this way the children can contribute to climate protection. The children were excited about the possibility to hand over their green footprints to the politicians.”

Pfullingen

From 13 to 19 July 2015, the children from Uhlandschule in Pfullingen were busy collecting green footprints.
During that week, the 220 children from 12 classes were able to collect a total of 2,330 green footprints.
They glued the footprints on a poster of a heavy passed road and in doing so, little by little, covered the cars which were driving there and their exhaust fumes (see pictures and press article).

One of the teachers wrote:

“We had a lot of fun during this campaign and are planning to take part in this every two years.”

Wippingen

Also this year, primary school Wippingen collected green footprints for the Climate Summit.

From 21 September to 18 October, all pupils were collecting green footprints for protection of the environment. They participated in the action of Climate Alliance and collected 1,607 green footprints in four weeks. Each way which the children went by foot, scooter, bike or bus was collected and counted.

As the classes 3 and 4 were working on the topic forest with the different kinds of trees, it was interesting for the children to see that car fumes not only damage our trees but also are contributing to climate warming.

The climate warming was illustrated to the children by different experiments and in doing so there was a direct link to the green footprints. Everybody realized that journeys by car have an influence on our climate and in doing so are changing our environment.

The children of primary school Wippingen are happy that they were able to contribute to the preservation of the environment and are still enjoying to going to school by foot or are driving with their scooter.
