Löhne

Many schools participate sinse 2002!

The coordinate wrote us:

1578 children from all elementary schools saved 13.662 drives in only 5 days. "We protect the climate!", that is what the children are deeply convinced of. They show how easy climate protection can be. Instead of driving by car, they come to school by foot oder bike to school. Given that 60% of the distances driven by car are shorter than three kilometers and 80% shorter than 5 kilometers, these long-term campaign may not be underestimated. Since 10 years, eight elementary schools are collecting Green Footprints.

Marienfeld

In this year, the pupils of the Marienschule collected for the fourth time and travelled enthusiastically and symbolically with many other children around the world. During the 11th and 15th April 2011, 209 elementary school pupils and teachers of the elementary school Marienfeld participated in the activity week.

In total they collected 5016 Green Footprints and were very consequent in the implementation: Parents, who normally give their children a ride to school on their way to work, were persuaded by the children to not taking the car.

Our Walking-Bus was accompanied by the local police officer Mr Lüffe. Moreover, the vice-principal Mrs Brügge rewarded the walking children with a little surprise.

Also, there was the dreaded helmet control by the principale Mr Kirchner who proudly reportet: "99% of our pupils are wearing a bycicle helmet!"

As a innovation, there were activities during the breaks. For the kick-off they put a piano on the schoolyard and sang the self texted song "Wir sind kleine Klimaschützer“ (pdf, 25 kb, only in German)

They collected the unbelievable number of 5016 Green Footprints. As a reward, every class received a flower box with seeds for growing cress and colourful flowers.

Best wishes and good luck!
