Poland

This year we have again collected Green Footprints for a better climate!

This year again children in Poland have been working for a better climate and collected Footprints. 3 classes, a total of 84 pupils have made their way to school in a climate-friendly way and have also paid attention to regional food and efficient energy use. They were able to collect a total of 2,724 climate-friendly Footprints.

During the action week, they also dealt with the topic of global warming. The phenomenon was also well illustrated in the light of current events: October 2019 was unusually warm in Poland. The children were able to discover the gradual process of global warming and thus also possible manifestations of climate change.

The forest treasure trove

In the project "Once Upon a Time", which is made possible by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and the Nidzica Development Foundation, another 13-14 year old youth in Wydminy have carried out various projects to better understand the local forest. This year they collected various herbs and so-called "super foods" in the forest. In the "forest treasure trove" (see also the ZOOM teaching guide, p. 28) the children got to know and determine the plant world with all their senses. A great action, which was a lot of fun for the children! For future excursions into the forest, they even create a guide for the local "super foods".
