This year's Kid's on the Move campaign was accompanied by other climate-friendly activities which passed every class or group:

• walks in the district

• draw a children's city map

• the parents had to walk with the children

• the preschool children ask themselfes if there are able to walk to school

• hikes and walks in the forest

• bike training and bike tours

• audio walk

Every particapting class and group received a certificate and pencils or a "blinki" (a device for better road safety).

For the first time there was also a painting competition. The winners were rewarded with Green Footprint gym bags filled with fair chocolate.

The AWO daycare center Scheidter Feld documented their participation in a special manner. With a lot of joy and commitment, the children collected 311 Green Footprints. They looked at different ways of getting to kindergarten and came up with alternatives to the car. They also looked into the topics of nutrition. For example, there were now more vergetarian meals at the daycare center.

"We keep our enviroment clean", was a motto of the children. So they started a trash collection campaign and talked about proper garbage seperation. The children were able to show what they alraedy knew and exchange tips with each other. They also discussed the topic of electronic waste.

In order to teach the children that things can be reused and repaired, the children painted old white t-shirts.

One of the highlight of the campaign was an excursion to the waste-to-energy plant in Langenfeld, which the children reached togehter by bus. There, they were able to see how the garbage trucks deposit the garbage and how it is then prepared for further processing. The children were also allowed to sit in a garbage truck. What a great excursion!
