Berlin

One of the participating schools from the national capital this year was the elementary school Robert Reinick, where 20 students from grades 3 and 4 chose to participate in a project week all about climate protection from June 27th to July 1st.

In this week, the children collected 142 green miles for climate-friendly mobility, 20 red miles for sustainable food, and two blue miles for energy saving. During a session about ecological footprints on Monday, they also made paper feet containing wishes for climate protection.

The remaining days of the climate project week were used to learn about a variety of climate-related topics, such as the greenhouse effect, diets, and energy. To name some examples, some interesting experiments were conducted to illustrate the greenhouse effect, regional and seasonal cooking was done, and a movie about energy saving was shown. Friday was used as a concluding day to reflect on the topics covered during the week and to prepare presentations for the parents, who eagerly anticipated to hear about what their children had learned and done. As teachers Ms. Bittner and Ms. Vogt reported, everyone involved enjoyed the week to its fullest!
