Lower Saxony

Bad Rothenfelde

Children from two day-cares in Bad Rothenfelde happily collected miles this year - the day-cares "St. Elisabeth" and "Antoinette Schiller".

We received a report from the day-care St. Elisabeth stating that by the end of the project time frame, they counted 258 green miles. The children achieved these by practicing environmentally-friendly mobility. Instead of getting in the car, they walked, biked, or took public transportation to get to and from home.

Belm

Apart from the day-care St. Josef, the elementary school Belm also collected climate miles this year. 55 students from three third grade classes participated. During the collection period, they gathered 524 green miles for climate-friendly mobility, 119 red miles for climate-friendly meals and 85 blue miles for saving energy. In addition to filling the climate mile sticker albums, they also designed posters calling for more climate protection. What a nice job!

Geestland

In June, three groups of the pre-school "Unter'm Regenbogen" in Bad Bederkesa participated in the "Kids on the Move" campaign. All together, they collected 247 green and 669 red miles. The stickers were compiled on these context-specific posters!

Lathen

This year in Lathen the children from three different schools collected Green Footprints for a better climate. And the result is impressive:

GS Fresenburg with 40 pupils: 989 Green Footprints

GS Ober-Niederlangen with 75 pupils: 1,502 Green Footprints

GS Renkenberge with 73 students: 1,480 Green Footprints

This brings the total number of climate-friendly miles from Lathen to 3,971 at the UN Climate Change Conference in Madrid. A great result!

Meppen

This year was the first time the Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule (JGS) in Meppen collected miles for the global climate. From May 30th to June 3rd, 155 students participated and gathered a total of 1,862 green miles. During the car-free week at JGS, the individual classes worked on different projects, all of which were related to the environment. The class 2a compiled their personal wishes and political demands on paper footprints.

Throughout the week, the students not only realized that lots of actions on a small level can add up to larger actions. They also noticed they felt much safer in front of the school building, as fewer cars were around than usual!

Osnabrück

Once again, the city of Osnabrück was involved in the Kids for Climate campaign with multiple day-cares and schools collecting miles. From April 19th to June 10th, about 2,700 children practiced climate-friendly behavior. Taken together with the miles collected in Landkreis Osnabrück, there were a good 30,000 green miles for climate-friendly mobility, more than 4,100 red miles for environmentally-friendly meals, and a generous 3,100 blue miles for saving energy.

The final celebration of this year's Kids for Climate campaign in the city and county of Osnabrück took place in the Osnabrück Zoo. Head of Landkreis Osnabrück Anna Kebschull and mayor of the city of Osnabrück Katharina Pötter attended the event, where they handed over certificates to the little climate protectors. Pötter explained that 2022 was a record year in terms of the number of institutions that particpated in Osnabrück. Perhaps next year this record can be broken again!

Saterland

In Saterland the elementary school Ramsloh participated in the Kids for Climate campaign. Around 230 children collected miles during their project week, which lasted from May 9th to 13th.

With great joy and lots of enthusiasm they were able to present 1,971 green miles as their final result!
