Austria

In 2022, the little Austrian climate protectors once again eagerly collected climate-miles. 20,700 children from 197 schools collected 261,268 Klimameilen/Green Footprints.

The poster presenting the Austrian results at COP 27 is decorated with drawings created by the pupils of the VS Bad Hofgaststein and VS Pannaschgasse.

Last year's winner, VS Nötsch, received a visit from climate clown Hugo. Clima clown Hugo also visited the winning school of Salzburg, VS Mattsee.

VS Windischagarten, the winner of Upper Austria, won a trip to a canopy pathway. After a delay due to corona the sports middle school Bad Vöslau could also finally take advantage of their reward – a visit to the climbing garden.

In 2022, the little Austrian climate protectors once again eagerly collected climate-miles.

As per tradition, the best result of the first half of the year was awarded the title of summer champion. This year, Volksschule Tadten from Seewinkel in Burgenland was at the top of the list, with 28 students who collected a total of 844 miles within one week.

During a celebration event, they were personally awarded a certificate by federal minister Leonore Gewessler and Austrian Climate Alliance director Elke Kastner. The children and staff of Volksschule Tadten also contributed to the event by preparing a banner declaring "Mutter Erde - wir beschützen sie" (English: Mother Earth - we protect her) and singing a moving song about climate heroes.
