Hungary

Once again quite a lot of schools from all over Hungary were participating in the „ZOOM Kids on the Move for Climate Action” campaign, organized by Climate Alliance Hungary, together with partners.

In September and October, 80 schools with 18,609 pupils took part! Three kindergartens have also been added, which are also busy collecting Green Footprints with their groups. Together they collected 310,722 Green Footprints and made a great contribution to the overall result!

In addition to collecting Green Footprints, the children participated in a wide range of activities. The focus this year was on trees/plants, sustainable mobility and local food. Here are some insights into the different projects and activities in Hungary:

Környezet - Élmény - Közösség: Environment - Experiences - Community

On the car-free day, homemade dough specialities were produced with the local youth at the charcoal grill with spits. The local and from the ground up homemade food was very well received! The collective grilling of the regional food is only one way our Hungarian partners want to spread climate-friendly activities and create a more environmentally friendly awareness.

Fák: trees

This year's focus was on teaching the children more about the native trees. What are their benefits - both economic and for the environment and people? Which tree am I standing in front of and how old might it be?
In addition to the extensive knowledge transfer, which sometimes even takes place with the help of an app, trees were also actively planted for a better climate!

Közösségi kert az Apáczai Karon: Community Garden at the Apáczai Faculty

A small community garden was planted at the Faculty of Apáczai. In the raised beds various plants, such as tomatoes, various herbs and other fruit and vegetables, are cultivated and cultivated with much diligence and effort. The small garden was designed wheelchair accessible, so that everyone has the possibility to profit from this community project. A great idea!

Especially in everyday life, small changes in total can have a great impact. This was illustrated by the example of "eating": every day we eat several meals and here, too, climate-friendly decisions can be made:

Vegetarian meals were prepared with the children and enjoyed together with the whole group. With a lot of fun and interest, vegetarian, climate-friendly alternatives could be shown to the children, which hopefully will also be imitated at home.
