Straußberg

From 27th July to 3rd August 2014, 127 citizens, from 8-12 years, of the children’s city “auf der Feuerkuppe” near Straußberg collected 300 KidsCamp green footprints for Lima.

The organizers wrote:

In cooperation with the “Kids on the Move” campaign our kids were also busy collecting green footprints in 2014.
They drove a stipulated and measured way by scooter or bicycle.
The distance covered was converted into green footprints. The action wants to illustrate that we have to make our daily ways more environmentally friendly for life’s sake. In addition to the green miles the children also designed “green footprints”. Personal messages to the UN Climate Conference were added to them.

Consistent with the year’s theme of the UN Educational Decade “Bridges to the Future” the children were animated to deal with the future in a creative way. Due to that, during children’s city, a real bridge was designed with color. “What is important to me?”, “What helps the peace in my world””, “What has to be preserved so that children can be happy in 20 years?” – these and other questions were answered on the bridge in a creative way! The result is a moving symbol for peace.
