Bredenbek

In Bredenbek, the students have once again shown their dedication by actively collecting Green Footprints this year. These footprints were counted when students chose eco-friendly modes of transportation such as biking, scootering, taking the bus, or walking to school, and when they managed their way home without parental assistance, avoiding the "parent taxi." Furthermore, green footprints were earned for consuming locally sourced products and adopting energy-saving habits.

Altogether, they amassed an impressive total of 1229 Green Footprints!

Their participation in this initiative dates back to 2012, showcasing their longstanding commitment to this eco-conscious endeavor!

Pinneberg District

This year, the campaign "On Foot to School - Paths for a Better Climate" took place in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In collaboration with the State Accident Insurance Fund North and the School Office of the district, the campaign is organized at primary schools. Students from grades 1 to 4 (mostly in class groups) walked to school during the three weeks before their autumn break (mid-September to early October 2023), actively collecting climate footprints. The campaign has become a established part of school life in some schools, and this year, several schools participated for the first time. The feedback from all participants is consistently positive, indicating a growing awareness among both children and adults about the importance of caring for the climate. A positive side effect of the campaign is the reduction of "parent taxis" in front of schools during the action, easing traffic situations during drop-off and pick-up times.

Participating Schools:

  • Moorwegschule Wedel, Wedel: 447 children, 4,212 footprints
  • Schulzentrum Nord, Pinneberg: 120 children, 1,449 footprints

Reinbek

The Gertrud-Lege-Schule participated in the concept of collecting green miles this year. However, they opted not to use the materials provided by us, and they focused solely on the children's school routes. The collection period spanned 8 school days, with a total of 349 students participating, and they gathered 4004 green miles. Below are some footprints they used to document the collected green miles!

Wedel

Wedel's daycare centers are actively engaging in climate protection through a Sustainable Mobility Action Week: the collection of Children's Climate Footprints. The Climate Frogs daycares participated in the 'Little Climate Protectors on the Move' campaign organized by the Climate Alliance. During this week, children accumulated climate footprints by choosing eco-friendly modes of transport like walking, cycling, scootering, or taking the bus instead of using cars to reach their daycare centers. The impressive total of 2,565 collected footprints was achieved. These footprints were proudly handed over to the city during the Wedel Harbor Festival. Beyond enjoying the activity, the children actively contributed to climate protection, demonstrating their commitment to a greener future.
