Bad Homburg

The children of the daycare center Eschbachtal from Bad Homburg have been very diligent in collecting Green Footprints. This year they were even able to collect almost 3x as many miles as last year. Congratulations!

All together, 3,194 Footprints were collected:

A total of 685 Red Footprints were collected, including 345 for fruit grown, 150 for cultivated vegetables, 97 for cultivated herbs, 14 for cultivated nuts, 37 for flower meadows, and 47 for regionally purchased goods. Additionally, there were 332 Green Footprints, earned through activities such as cycling (115), scootering (70), and walking (147) to kindergarten. In the Blue Footprints category, a total of 2,177 points were earned. This included 772 points for toilets flushed with water cisterns, 1,156 points for using water stops in faucets, 109 points for watering cans from rainwater barrels, 100 points for using a cistern for watering, 20 points for riding the city bus, 15 points for charging an E-car with green electricity, and 5 points for utilizing solar panels/photovoltaic panels.

In 2022, 1,081 Green Footprints were collected, this year already a proud 3,194. We are curious to see if Bad Homburg can surpass this number again next year. 

Bürstadt

During their project week in June, the young climate protectors of the elementary school Schillerschule in Bürstadt collected 5,080 Green Footprints. Children from the preparatory class, as well as from grades 1 through 3 participated in the campaign. Their great result was achieved by using public transport, by walking, cycling, scootering and skateboarding.

Nora Günther praised the children's dedication. All Fuldatal primary schools and Hummelnest and Hummelbox Kindergarten took part. The 3,779 Green Footprints from 549 children were presented on July 18, 2023. The children had a lot of fun collecting Fooprints!   

Fürth in the Odenwald

The Müller Guttenbrunn School collected Green Footprints from October 9th to October 13th, 2023. A total of 3,024 Green Footprints were gathered from 19 classes, including Intensive I and II, as well as Pre-Class 3. This school recorded these Footprints on class posters using tally marks. Concurrently, in the community of Fürth, waste was collected, with the active participation of many classes. 

The Team Sachunterricht of MGS Fürth school explained that their elementary school plans to participate in the Green Footprints project week once again this year. Due to financial constraints, they have decided to abstain from using the collection booklets and stickers this time. Instead, they will be keeping track using tally marks, as explained in the parent letter of 2023. They also consider this approach more environmentally friendly, although certificates will still be printed out for the classes. 

Heppenheim

This year, the Children on the Move Week was once again held at Eichendorffschule from October 9th to October 13th, 2023. They have collected a total of 1,757 Green Footprints during this period. To showcase their efforts on a global platform, they have shared two pictures and the Footprints sheet, a design created by a colleague last year and now used across all classes. They kindly requested these Footprints to be taken to the UN conference in the United Arab Emirates. The breakdown of Footprints collected from various classes is as follows: Class 1a contributed 198 Footprints, Class 1b collected 244 Footprints, Class 2a gathered 366 Footprints, Class 2b accumulated 301 Footprints, Class 3a added 71 Footprints, Class 3b contributed 300 Footprints, and Class 4a collected 277 Footprints. Their active participation reflects their commitment to environmental awareness and global initiatives. The Schoss school has nine classes participat, summing 2,792 collected Green Footprints.

All together, a recorded 4,549 Footprints were earned in Heppenheim. 

Lahn-Dill District

The Lahn-Dill District actively participated in the Children's Footprints campaign, with various classes making significant contributions during the academic year 2022/2023. In class E1a at Geschwister-Scholl-Schule, 21 students collectively achieved 294 Footprints. At Grundschule an der Lahnaue, classes like 1a, 1b, 2a, and others participated enthusiastically. For instance, class 1a, consisting of 23 students, achieved 473 Footprints, while class 1b, with 24 students, collected 405 Footprints. Similarly, class 2a, comprising 20 students, contributed 474 footprints, and class 2b, also with 20 students, gathered 406 Footprints. The active participation extended to classes 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, and 4c at Grundschule an der Lahnaue, each making significant efforts to promote environmental awareness.

Additionally, Grundschule Naunheim showcased their dedication to the cause. In class E1a, with 21 students, 124 Footprints were achieved, while class E1b, comprising 22 students, collected 211 Footprints. Classes E2a and E2b, each with 20 students, contributed 145 and 176 Footprints, respectively. The participation was widespread, involving various other classes in Grundschule Naunheim, with each class making valuable contributions.

Dernbachschule actively engaged in the campaign as well. In class 1a, consisting of 20 students, 172 Footprints were achieved. Class 3, with 24 students, gathered 354 Footprints, and class 4b, comprising 19 students, contributed 191 Footprints. Grs Ulmtal and Grundschule Manderbach also participated actively, with classes 2a and 2b making significant contributions to the overall Footprints collection.

In total, the Lahn-Dill District achieved an impressive 9,892 Footprints from 614 students throughout the campaign, reflecting the collective commitment of the school community to environmental awareness and sustainability. 

Lampertheim

In Lampertheim, four local schools and three childcare centers actively participated in the Children's Footprints campaign from June 12th to July 7th, 2023. The schools included Pestalozzischule with 13 classes and 280 students, Goetheschule with 16 classes and 350 students, Schillerschule with 12 classes and 250 students, and Seehofschule with 5 classes and 84 students. The childcare centers, namely Ev. Kita Hüttenfeld, Kita Rosenstock, and Waldkindergarten, also made significant contributions, involving a total of 192 children. Together, they collected an impressive total of 35,923 "Green Footprints." This remarkable achievement showcases their commitment to environmental awareness and sustainable practices, reflecting the community's dedication to fostering a greener future. 

Lorsch

A large package from the Wingertsberg School in Lorsch arrived at the Climate Alliance office in Frankfurt. Excited, we rolled out the large poster roll on the floor to better see the labeled Footprints. There wasn't even enough room in the office to spread out the three rolls all the way, so we moved into the hallway. In total, the paper rolls had a length of about 10m. What a great job!

The following Green Footprints were collected: 10,881 Green Footprints, 940 Red Footprints, 584 Blue Footprints.

The mayor of Lorsch, Christian Schönung, is also pleased with the good results and is proud of the children's achievements.

Offenbach

In Offenbach, the children from Leibris Schule were active for a better climate!


A total of 27 little climate protectors participated and paid attention to climate-friendly mobility, regional food and sustainable energy.


And the result is impressive: 321 climate-friendly Footprints! Of the 321, 305 are green, 11 are red, and 5 are blue.    

Wiesbaden

The students of the Johannes-Maaß-Grundschule in Wiesbaden beautifully created "Wunschfüße" for the politicians.

On their own feet, class 2b covered 869 Green Footprints and class 4d a total of 402. These Footprints were not only collected on the way to school, but also during the visit of the Wiesbaden weekly market, where the children interviewed the producers of regional food.

And even during the break, the children played a game from the teaching guide of the Kids on the Move campaign.
