ANSBACH
Green Footprints have been collected regularly in Ansbach since 2006.
Seven schools and nine kindergartens took part in this year's “Little Ansbach Climate Protectors on the Move” campaign and collected diligently over a period of three weeks—parallel to the City Cycling campaign—contributing 68,506 miles. Many thanks to everyone involved!
This year, some children noticed that they hardly needed certain stickers, such as those with energy-saving light bulbs or apples, while others – in one school, buses in particular – quickly ran out.
This is a recurring problem, and we can only recommend getting creative during the preparation phase and, for example, planning sticker exchange rounds or making additional stamps for potentially popular types of exercise. This is fun for the children and ensures that they still get the right motifs for the forms of mobility they use
ASCHAFFENBURG
This year, the following nine institutions participated in Aschaffenburg:The Nature Kindergarten, the St. Matthäus Daycare Center and the Christuskirche Daycare Center, the Pestalozzi Elementary School and the Schillerschule, the Christian-Schad-Schule, the Mozart Elementary School, the Kolpingschule, and the Grünewaldschule. This year, more than 60 groups and classes with over 1,600 children took part, collecting a total of 21,399 children's miles – what an incredible result, congratulations! A huge shout-out to all the children in Aschaffenburg who worked so hard to collect Kindermeilen! You show how strong and committed you are when it comes to protecting our environment. Every step you have taken is a step towards a greener and better future – you are true climate protectors!
BAYREUTH UND LANDKREIS BAYREUTH
In 2025, more than 1,300 children from 12 different institutions in the city and district of Bayreuth took part in the Europe-wide children's miles campaign “Little climate protectors on the move.” Together, they collected 12,411 green mobility miles, 2,126 blue energy-saving miles, and 2,417 red miles for climate protection on their plates, which together adds up to an impressive total of 19,348 Kindermeilen.
The city and district of Bayreuth have been participating in the Children's Miles campaign since 2007. This year, elementary schools and kindergartens in Bayreuth, Bischofsgrün, Eckersdorf, Gefrees, Glashütten, Haag, and Hummeltal took part.

ILLERTISSEN
The Bischof-Ulrich-Schule in Illertissen has been involved right from the start! This year, the 390 children in 17 classes collected an impressive 8,607 children's miles within three weeks with great commitment and energy.
In November, they are planning another closing event with the mayor, where they will also announce how many miles have been collected across Europe!
The long-standing Kindermeilen campaign at the elementary school is not only a source of inspiration for the children and adults in their community, but also an example of how small steps can lead to positive changes in awareness for the future.

MÜHLDORF AM INN
The middle school in Mühldorf am Inn took part for the first time in 2025 and got off to a flying start with its six 5th grade classes and four 6th grade classes, collecting a total of 2,302 green miles for climate-friendly mobility, 288 red miles for climate protection on the plate, and 281 blue energy-saving miles—thank you very much for your efforts!
But it wasn't just for their daily commute to school; many children also consciously chose to travel by bike or spend time outdoors instead of in the car for weekend and leisure activities. The campaign was not only practical, but also accompanied by lessons: together, the children discussed their routes to school, went through dangerous spots, and once again addressed the importance of climate-friendly mobility.
This school year, special attention was paid to our school's carbon footprint. As part of the application to become a climate and environmental school, our own CO₂ emissions were calculated and presented graphically – a project that began last year as an environmental school and has now been expanded. This allowed the children to see in concrete terms what a difference their everyday behavior makes.
In any case, the school reported that the campaign was a complete success: the children collected with great enthusiasm and joy, showing that climate awareness and environmental protection have long been firmly anchored in everyday school life.
“It's wonderful to see how naturally the children now engage with the topic and want to make a difference, even in small ways,” says Vice Principal Ms. Steinhuber. And one thing is already clear: the Children's Miles campaign will continue to be part of our commitment as a climate and environmental school in the next school year. MUNICH
The Puppenweg municipal daycare center took part for the first time this year and got off to a flying start: the children cycled, scootered, and ran enthusiastically, a waste separation station was introduced, as well as a herb-to-go station and a vegetable patch, and the healthy snack was expanded to include a trip to Muesli Land, making climate protection on a plate truly child's play.
We particularly liked the idea of energy-saving memory games with homemade photos – definitely worth copying!

UNTERSCHLEISSHEIM
Three institutions participated this year:
The Michael Ende School contributed 3,200 green miles, 562 red miles, and 561 blue miles.
At the AWO Valentinspark daycare center, the children mainly traveled on foot, by bike, and by scooter, collecting 107 green miles. They also sent us a great poster with their dream feet, on which they used symbols and drawings to show what is good for the climate and what we should avoid doing.
The children and families of the Hollerbusch kindergarten also participated enthusiastically in this year's Climate Alliance Climate Mile campaign, contributing more than just children's miles.
The 20 little climate protectors carried out many different activities to better understand what they themselves can do. A central element was the book “10 Things I Can Do for Our Earth” by Melanie Walsh. It provided an understandable introduction and helped the children develop an initial awareness of climate protection.
They discussed the following topics together: What is climate? How does waste separation work? What footprint do we leave on the earth?
Discussions about different modes of transportation were particularly exciting. Some children suggested that electric cars are more environmentally friendly than conventional vehicles.
As part of the action week, the project group also took a trip to the surrounding area to collect trash—an idea that came directly from the group. Afterwards, the collected items were used to create posters that vividly illustrate the topic of trash and the environment.
