On November 20, at the UN Climate Summit in Baku, Climate Alliance presented the Green Footprints from 2024.
With the great support of Youth Delegates, Marc Serra Solé, Climate and Energy Councillor for the Province of Barcelona and Climate Alliance Board Member unveiled the results of the 2024 Green Footprints campaign at the 29th Climate Summit in Baku.
“As you can see the children are deeply concerned about the global climate goals…they expect us politicians to take immediate action,” observerd Serra during the presentation. “The climate crisis is mounting. Its effects recently hit home in Spain with record rainfall resulting in extreme flooding. We need a strong local level to be able to tackle these challenges. The children's efforts give us hope and motivate me to double down on our council’s work. The time to act is now,” Solé continued.
This year's handover was supported not only by the UN Youth Delegates from Austria, Germany and Hungary. Also Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler, from Austria was present and expressed her great graditute to every single Green Footprint collector. She said that the results were a “…good reminder to all of us politicians in the negotiations to have clear in our heads who are we doing this for and why.”
Hungarian Ambassador-at-large for Climate Barbara Botos was also among those onsite in Baku to honour the children’s efforts. She carried the postcards of the Hungarian participants with her, showing the kids short messages for the Baku Delegates to encourage them to take their role as negotiators seriously, also on behalf of the children.

Climate Minister Gewessler and UN-Youth Delegates explore the postkards contributed by the Hungarian children. Thanks to the Hungarian Climate Ambassador at-large Barbara Botos some of them even made it on the walls of the EU Meetingroom in Baku. Let’s hope that their short messages to the Delegates inspired many Delegates to negotiate effectively and skillfull.
